3 Nights in Chicago

Genre: Local multiplayer action game

Completed in: 2016

Problem Statement: Can you make a fast-paced local multiplayer action game with permadeath? Where the characters you’re using can grow over time and then be lost forever?

Solution: My NYU Thesis project was a multiplayer game where two teams of gangsters attempt to rob the same bank at the same time. Players race to crack open safes, grab the loot, and get it back to their getaway car before the cops show up. The goal is to accumulate the most money after 3 rounds. You can use money to upgrade your characters’ abilities, losing in the short term to improve your chances in the following round. However, if one of your character fails to make it to the getaway car, they are caught by the cops and are lost, replaced by a rookie gangster with no upgrades.

This project was developed over the course of 8 months, in a 4-person team, in the Unity game engine.
